Why are damages assigned?
Damages are assigned for a variety of reasons depending on what type of injury has been incurred. Overall, damages in personal injury cases are awarded in an effort to make a party “whole” again after an injury has taken place. This can include making the checkbook whole again through compensation for lost wages or medical bills or making a person physically whole for lost or damaged limbs.
