Ship worker injured during cruise ship accident

Posted on Monday, January 16th, 2012 at 8:39 pm

The cruise ship, Costa Concordia, crashed into rocks near the coast of Giglio, Italy on Friday and numerous injuries and casualties have been reported.

The ship was carrying 4,200 passengers. Of those people, there have been six confirmed dead and 16 are missing. Reports are claiming that the captain of the ship moved the cruise liner too close to the shore and struck a large pile of rocks in the water. These rocks created a 160-foot gash in the boat, thus causing it to tip.

A worker on the ship was injured during the crash and awaited the arrival of rescue workers to bring him to safety. The injured worker is believed to have broken his leg.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims’ families and friends during this difficult time and our hopes are that the missing individuals are found safely.

A national recall has just been made public by Ford Motor Company and it will affect roughly half a million Ford minivans and SUVs.

The Ford Escape models that were made between 2001 and 2002 are being recalled due to a leaky brake fluid cap which has the potential to cause fires. Ford announced the recall of 244,530 of these SUVs.

Two minivan models manufactured by Ford are also part of the national recall. The 2004 and 2005 Mercury Monterey minivans along with the Freestar vans have a torque converter output shaft problem that caused 205,896 models to be defective. Ford Motor Company will replace all of the broken parts for free.
