Man Killed in ATV

A Hyndman man was killed Sunday after he lost control of anall-terrain vehicle near Fairhope road.

32 year-old Corey R. Clites was operating a PolarisSportsmen XP Twin 850cc ATV east of Fairhope Road. Pennsylvania State Policesaid that Clites drove off of the roadway and the vehicle flipped severaltimes. He was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

State Trooper Jason P. Zanolli said Clites was wearing ahelmet at the time of the crash.

Russel Crowe, Elizabeth Banks Involved in Car Accident

Actor Russell Crowe and Actress Elizabeth Banks, who arefilming a new movie in Pennsylvania, were involved in a car accident Wednesdayafternoon.

The two were shooting the new film “The Next Three Days” andwere doing a scene that required them to be in a van. The van was parked andthe actors were inside when a fire truck collided with their vehicle. The truckwas pulling out of the Deutshtown Fire Station when it struck the front end ofthe van.

No injuries have been reported. Production was reportedlyhalted on the film set for quite some time.

Pastor Killed in Head-On Collision

Dr. David Edwards, pastor at Corsicana’s First BaptistChurch, died Friday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Hubbard.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Edwards wasinvolved in a two car accident around 4:20 p.m. Friday on State Highway 21 justwest of Hubbard. He was transported to Hillcrest Hospital in Waco where he waspronounced dead at 5:20 p.m.

Investigators say Edwards was driving his 2001 Ford Explorerwestbound on Highway 31 when he was struck head-on by a 2004 Dodge driven by56-year-old Joseph Pass. A report released by the DPS says that Pass crossedthe center lane and struck Edward’s vehicle head on.

Pass is being treated at Hillcrest Hospital and is in stablecondition.

Man Falls 125ft in Platform Lift Accident

A man operating a construction lift drove over a sidewalkgrate causing the machine to slowly topple over, sending the man 125 feet tothe ground. A spokesman for the Philadelphia Fire Department said the liftoperator and a women were taken to the hospital. The hospital has not releasedinformation on their conditions.

The worker was completing maintenance work on a church roofwhen the lift rolled over a grate that slowly gave way. The lift began toslowly fall over, grazing a residential building and then knocking down atraffic light and light pole.

Robert Lee, a nearby construction worker, saw the accident. “Ittook forever for him to fall over,” said Lee. “He didn’t scream. He was justtrying to work the controls.”

4 Killed in I-95 Crash

Four people were killed Sunday morning when a car went out of control and slid under a tractor trailer on I-95. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes ofI-95 at Girard in the Fishtown section of the city.

The driver has been identified as 29-year-old Michael Doughan of Philadelphia. Investigators say he was speeding on the interstate inhis 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer and making multiple lane changes.

When Doughan was in the left lane, he made a sudden turn to the right and lost control of his vehicle. The Lancer spun clockwise and slid approximately ten feet under a southbound freightliner tractor trailer. Spinning away from the truck, the car overturned and one of the passengers was ejected.

All four passengers of the Lancer were pronounced dead at the scene by the Philadelphia Fire Department.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Frank Maier Jr. was not injured.

Woman Thrown From Car on Interstate 78

A woman was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill, Monday afternoon, after she was hit by a car on Interstate 78 West in Williams Township. According to emergency radio reports the crash happened around 12:30p.m. Moday, when a woman was thrown from her car and then hit by another car.The collision appeared to have happened in the median. The woman was conscious when she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports only two cars were involved in thecrash. One had a broken rear window and the other had front passenger side damage. Neither car appeared to have sustained major damage.

Pennsylvania State police at Belfast and Williams Township fire crews are still investigating the crash. At this point nobody involved has been charged, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.
