On Sunday evening, a Baltimore police officer was driving along I-81 when a sudden rain caused him to crash. Around 6pm, the rain started and the officer lost control of his pickup truck, rolling it down an embankment and into a tree in Schuylkill County.
The officer was air lifted to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in serious condition. His passengers were both killed by the crash. His 18 year old son died shortly after the crash in a Pennsylvania hospital. The son's 19 year old girlfriend died in the crash.

In Dickinson Township, a strange accident occurred Tuesday involving a tree and a car. Aroudn 4pm, a woman was driving along a private roadway when the tree uprooted and fell on the car.
The woman was trapped in the car and died a short while later from her injuries. Two passengers in the car were able to escape without any injuries. Police are investigating the accident.

On Saturday morning, a semi truck hit a cyclist in Swatara Township. Just before 3am, the truck was driving along 19th St when it struck the cyclist. The cause of the crash was not reported.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dauphin County coroner's office. Whether he was wearing a helmet and lights or not was not reported. Police are investigating.

On Sunday morning, a bicycle crash occurred during the Covered Bridge Metric Century Ride put on by the Lancaster Bicycle Club. The crash occurred around 9:30am, but Police would not release any other information.
One person was killed, suffering from traumatic head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There were 4,100 participants in the 31st annual 63 mile ride through rural areas of the county.

Psyclone Essentials has issued a voluntary recall of 220,000 battery rechargers sold under both its own name and React. The Nintendo Wii 4-Dock Recharge Stations have been shown to overheat and cause burns.
So far, there have been 6 cases of overheating reported. There have also been 2 reports of burns caused by the product. All products with serial number PSE6501 or RT530 are affected by the recall.

The Harrisburg area office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration opened an investigation into the death of a worker on August 7. OSHA has six months to complete the investigation.
The worker killed in the accident was welding on a lift truck when a piece of steel fell sometime between 10:30am and 11am. The details of the incident are still unknown.

On Friday afternoon, an industrial accident occurred at the Quaker Alloy Plant in Jackson Township. A man fell from a high lift shortly after noon at the plant. The cause of the incident has not been reported.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigated the incident and have not released any information about the man pending notification of his next of kin.

On Friday night, a man was hit by an Amtrack train in Lancaster County. The collision occurred on the tracks near the intersection of West Main St and Holland St in East Hempfield Township.
The man was struck around 9:30pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The train was stopped and passengers were moved onto another train bound for New York. Police investigated.
