Darvocet, or propoxyphene, leads to hundreds of deaths each year. However, it is still prescribed by doctors as a minor pain releiver. The drug has been completely banned in Britain and some are trying for the same action here.
However, the FDA has ordered that the drug come with an overdose warning on the label rather than banning it. It has also ordered a study on possible heart related side effects, that could lead to the drugs banning in the future. For now, though, the drug remains available and dangerous.
