Jet Ski Safety
On a hot summer afternoon, a Jet Ski can be a blast. The personal watercraft is very popular for recreation at the lake or the beach. It can easily navigate shallow shores and is not difficult to operate. However, it should not be treated as a toy. Serious injuries can result from Jet Ski accidents. Therefore, we have provided the following advice to keep you safe.
Before you even get on a Jet Ski, make sure you are educated so that you may properly operate one. Be aware of your state’s regulations concerning Jet Skis. Laws were designed to protect you, and therefore, it is only in your best interest to abide by them. Understand the features of your personal watercraft by reading the owner’s manual.
A PFD life jacket Type I or Type II is required by law. Attach a whistle to your lifejacket you are wearing. Don’t attach it to the Jet Ski because if you fall off, you will not have the whistle. You should have eye protection as water will splash in your face. If it is cold, a wet suit is recommended.
When you board the Jet Ski, make sure to attach the safety lanyard. This will cut off the engine if you fall off the Jet Ski. Make sure to stay away from people, other boats, and wildlife.
